Cuando se llega a Nova Friburgo, en el estado de Río de Janeiro, y le preguntas a las personas cómo ir hasta el barrio rural Cardinot, ellas responden: «Cardinot? Es medio lejos, usted toma el autobús para allá, pero no sé cuándo pasa o si tarda mucho para aparecer. «Otros dirían que es un lugar aislado.
El origen de la palabra «aislado» está vinculado con la palabra isla. Bueno, si pensamos que una isla puede ser capaz de proveer alimento y energía y de no auto-destruirse en el proceso podemos decir que lo que estamos queriendo construir en Cardinot es una isla. Y sin mar, los alrededores, no existe isla: sin la interacción con la comunidad, el proyecto tampoco estaría cumpliendo uno de sus propósitos, que es el desarrollo social, el intercambio de conocimientos, experiencias y sonrisas.
Aquí en Eco Caminhos, esa isla en la montaña, estamos trazando el mapa que nos llevará hasta cumplir esos sueños durante el día a día. Tenemos el desafío de lidiar con nuestra micro-comunidad, las diferencias culturales y de comportamiento de cada miembro, entender que el proyecto sólo va hacia adelante si miramos los eventuales conflictos que se presenten de manera positiva y buscamos un cambio interno y no en cambiar al otro.
Esta es una de las motivaciones de estar en una obra que nosotros mismos elegimos. Si me molesto con la cantidad de agrotóxicos y hormonas sintéticas que consumo por año, si mi trabajo contribuye con un impacto que no aprecio y consume muchas horas de mi vida, dejándome sin tiempo para mis otros sueños y haciendo que consuma productos o servicios rapidos y prefabricados en un intento de suplir el tiempo que no dediqué a mí mismo, ¿porque yo no mejor ser yo quien cambia?
¿Cuál es el proyecto que quiero ver nacer? Esta es una de las preguntas que nos hacemos a menudo por aquí. La idea de Eco Caminos es dar oportunidad para que las personas desarrollen actividades que les gusten, ofrecer experiencias positivas para la comunidad que nos rodea y al mismo tiempo darles la oportunidad de que generen su propio sustento, sea en energía, en alimento o en dinero, siempre en armonía con quien nos permite todo eso: la tierra. Hay mucho trabajo por hacer, pero lo importante es que su realización esté de acuerdo con lo que usted cree. ¡Y eso es hermoso!
Nuestras actividades requieren un movimiento intenso de energía física, que nos reconecta con la tierra, que nos hace descubrir dolores en músculos olvidados y que nos invita a mirar cada cosa que hacemos con cuidado, con intención. Una vez, cuando yo estaba resolviendo una duda sobre la alineación de una pared de cobe (mezcla de arena, arcilla, agua y paja), fui instruido para alinear la pared, pero también para dejar formas suaves, uno de los voluntarios de aquí, Roger, dijo al final de la explicación con su portugués aun en evolución: «me gusta hacer esto! Trabajar para que las cosas queden bonitas. «
